Michele uses a wide range of media including clay, wire, cement and resin.
She enjoys incorporating found and recycled objects into her pieces.
Her themes are mostly human figures and interest lies in capturing the life and emotions of her subjects. The stillness of the sculpture combines with a suggestion of body language and movement. She likes storytelling through her pieces and so there is often a narrative element to the work. The viewer sees a snapshot of an ongoing situation and is left to imagine the rest. She is interested in the human condition, exploring inner and outer worlds through the human face.
Her love of the natural world leads to the depiction of wildlife. With these pieces she aims to capture the essence of the subject caught in a moment of time – which is often the way that we glimpse animal and birds when we see them in their natural habitat.
